Wednesday, 1.21 Agenda: Slave Narratives

TOMORROW:, you will write your essay on showing how Notorious Jumping Frog and your other short story fit the characteristics of realism/regionalism. When you come to class, you need to be prepared with:

Several sheets of paper to write your essay and a pen/pencil
A textbook
Your copy of the short story given on Tuesday
Your notes on realism/regionalism--Link is here if you are missing the notes
Notes you've made on the two short stories--if you haven't done this, do it tonight.
NO COMPUTERS

We need to get started ASAP tomorrow, so I'll be hurrying you along when you come in. You ONLY have the class period tomorrow to write your essay. Be prepared when you come in.

TODAY: We are watching a slave narrative video in order to prepare us for reading Huck Finn, to get used to the dialect, and to see the first-hand effects of slavery. Reflection sheet due at end of hour. We won't get finished with the video, but will watch as much as we can.
